Description
Having both the DisciplineAction.StudentDisciplineIncidentAssociation and DisciplineAction.StudentDisciplineIncidentBehaviorAssociation cause confusion and adds a problem for vendors to submit both. Shall we remove the former deprecated attribute?
Please see the email from Tyler Tech to AZEDS team.
Hello,
I am looking at the representation of the Discipline resources in the latest 8.0 Use Case. I am surprised to see both ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentAssociation’ and ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentBehaviorAssociation’ as Required resources. In every other EdFi implementation that I have dealt with, it has always been one or the other. In fact, I was under the impression that ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentBehaviorAssociation’ was an EdFi replacement for the deprecated ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentAssociation’.
I just went to both of these pages:
https://api.ed-fi.org/v5.3/docs/swagger/index.html?urls.primaryName=Resources
https://sandbox-rest-ui-r8.azeds.azed.gov/swagger/index.html?urls.primaryName=Resources
And the description next to ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentAssociation’’ reads: “Deprecated: Users of this element are advised to use StudentDisciplineIncidentBehaviorAssociation or StudentDisciplineIncidentNonOffenderAssociation instead. Expect removal of this element in a future release.”
So, should ‘StudentDisciplineIncidentAssociation’ be removed from your requirements?
I am also noticing that an AZ extension was added to DisciplineAction just for the purpose of collecting a ‘DisciplineEndDate’. Why is this necessary? The EdFi DisciplineAction model has an EndDate, actualDisciplineActionLength and disciplineActionLength which seem sufficient to me.
Thank you,
-Joe
