CLONE - Transcripts & Course History

Currently, when we intake a students who were previously at another Districts, they come with course history records that are both associated with their previous districts, previous school years and grading periods. This has presented two issues for us:

1. The course records are associated with schools not in our edorgs, and thus the student transcript data is having trouble making its way through the ODS. How have other folks using the Ed-Fi ODS for student transcripts, dealt with getting records into the ODS? We don't want to falsely associate these records with our district or our schools. We want to maintain the accuracy of these records if they do go into the ODS.
2. When students enter our district after accumulating course completion records from another school, they often include records that are associated with previous school years. Because the records are associated with previous school years, and the ODS is year specific, we don't have a way to get those previous year's records into the ODS, easily. We dont want to massage the dates so that the records go into the ODS becasue we would loose the actual year the students took the course. How have other Ed-Fi folks dealt with these or similar issues with transcripts and course history?

By posting this, we want to start a conversation. If you have advice or suggestions we are happy to hear them. There may be components of the issues which require involving our SIS vendor, and as for that, we are already in conversation with them about possible fixes. I want to reiterate the importance we place on accurate and valid data. We do not intend to "change" or "massage" the data into something unture, just to mae this work.
