AssessmentItem to AssessmentReference Uniqueness

Issue:

On the AssessmentItem endpoint there is a need for a AssessmentReference to marry the item to the parent assessment. The fields provided in the post for assessmentItem are 

• title
• assessedGradeLevelDescriptor
• academicSubjectDescriptor
• version
• link

None of those fields in our system are unique requirements. We allow teachers to create multiple assessments with identical titles, grade levels, subject and versions. This duplication happens in our system, and is a valid use case based on our product.

Solution:

If we could add the assessment.id to the list, then we could uniquely reference the appropriate assessment reference.
